Google Ads Assets for Dentists: Make Your Ads Work Harder

Search for "dentist" plus your city on your phone and look at the ads at the top. Some are just a headline and two lines of text. Others take up much more space: extra links to specific treatments, a phone button, the clinic address and distance, star ratings, short lines like "Evening appointments" or "Payment in installments."

The bigger, more detailed ads aren't necessarily from clinics with bigger budgets. They're from clinics that set up their ad assets properly.

What ad assets are

Ad assets, previously called ad extensions, are extra pieces of information Google can show alongside your search ads. They make your ad larger and give people more reasons and ways to act.

Google decides when to show assets and which ones, depending on the search, device and expected performance. But you can only benefit if you've added them. Many clinics haven't, or set up two or three and never updated them.

Why they matter

  • More space. A bigger ad is more visible, especially on mobile, where the top ad can fill much of the screen.
  • More information. Assets answer questions before the click: where are you, are you open, do you offer what I need?
  • More ways to act. A patient can call directly, get directions or jump to a specific treatment page.
  • Better ad quality. Assets are part of how Google evaluates your ads. Using relevant ones can help your ads perform better.

The assets every dental clinic should use

Sitelinks

Extra links below your ad, each going to a specific page. Use them for your key treatments and important pages.

Examples: "Dental Implants," "Invisalign," "Emergency Appointments," "Prices," "Meet Our Dentists," "Book Online."

Tips: link to real, focused pages (not all to your homepage). Add the optional description lines for each sitelink. Create at least four.

Callouts

Short phrases that highlight benefits. They aren't clickable, but they add reassurance.

Examples: "Evening Appointments," "Payment in Installments," "English-Speaking Team," "Free Parking," "Written Treatment Plan," "Sedation Available."

Tips: be specific and true. Avoid empty phrases like "High Quality." Keep them short.

Structured snippets

A header with a list of values. For clinics, the "Services" header works well.

Example: Services: Implants, Veneers, Whitening, Aligners, Crowns, Root Canal.

Call asset

A phone number or call button in your ad. On mobile, patients can call with one tap.

Tips: show it only during hours when someone can answer. A patient who calls and gets no answer is a wasted click and a poor first impression. Set up call tracking so you can measure calls from ads.

Location asset

Shows your address, distance and a link to directions, pulled from your Google Business Profile.

Tips: link your Google Business Profile to Google Ads, and make sure the address, hours and phone number in the profile are correct.

Image assets

Images shown with your search ads on some placements. Use real photos of your clinic, team or welcoming spaces. Avoid stock photos and anything that looks like a before-and-after result unless it meets advertising rules.

Lead form asset

Lets people submit their details directly from the ad, without visiting your website. Useful in some cases, but test carefully and make sure every submission gets a fast response.

Price asset

Shows treatments with prices or "from" prices. Only use it if you're comfortable publishing prices, and keep them accurate and up to date.

Write assets for patients, not for Google

The best assets answer real questions and remove real worries. Think about what makes patients hesitate, and use assets to address it:

  • Worried about cost? "Payment in Installments," "Price List" sitelink.
  • Worried about time? "Evening & Saturday Appointments."
  • Nervous? "Gentle Care for Nervous Patients," "Sedation Available."
  • Need it now? "Same-Day Emergency Appointments."
  • International patients? "English, German & Spanish Spoken."

Only include claims you can fully deliver.

Match assets to campaigns

Assets can be added at account, campaign or ad group level. An implant campaign should have implant-specific sitelinks and callouts, like "Free Implant Consultation" (if true), "3D Scan at First Visit," "Implant Payment Plans." An emergency campaign needs different ones.

Review and refresh

Check asset performance in Google Ads every month or two. Replace assets that rarely show or perform poorly. Update seasonal information, opening hours and offers. Remove anything that's no longer accurate.

How we approach it

When we manage Google Ads for clinics, assets are part of every campaign setup: sitelinks to focused landing pages, callouts that answer patient worries, and call and location assets connected to the right tracking. See how we run campaigns on our Google Ads for dentists page.
