What to Show Dental Patients Who Are Still Comparing Clinics
Most people who land on your website aren't ready to book. Not yet. They know they need treatment, maybe implants, maybe straightening, maybe a smile they're not embarrassed by, but they're still comparing. Two or three clinics. Sometimes more.
This is the stage where many clinics lose patients without realizing it. Their marketing is built for two moments only: getting attention (ads) and asking for the booking (a "Book now" button). The middle, where the patient is quietly deciding who to trust, gets nothing.
Let's fix that.
What's going on in the patient's head
When someone is comparing clinics, they're asking questions like:
- Do these people actually know what they're doing?
- Will they explain things, or just sell me the most expensive option?
- What will this really cost, and can I afford it?
- How long will it take? How many visits?
- Will it hurt?
- What do other patients say?
- Do they treat people like me?
Your content at this stage has one job: answer those questions honestly, so that when they're ready, you're the obvious choice.
Content that works for patients who are comparing
Treatment explainers that walk through the process
A clear, step-by-step page or video for each major treatment: what happens at the first visit, how many appointments, how long between them, what recovery looks like. No jargon. This alone puts you ahead of most clinics, which just list treatment names.
Honest cost information
You don't have to publish a full price list. But you should explain what affects the price, show typical ranges if you can, and say clearly how and when the patient will get an exact quote. Mention payment options. Silence about cost makes people assume the worst.
Real patient stories, with consent
A short written or video story from a patient similar to the person reading: same treatment, similar worries. "I avoided the dentist for ten years because I was embarrassed" is more persuasive than any claim you could make yourself.
Before-and-after cases
For cosmetic and restorative treatments, a case with photos, a short description of the starting point, what was done and how long it took. Always with consent, always unedited.
Meet the dentist
A short video of the dentist who'll actually treat them, explaining how they work. People choose people. Seeing and hearing the dentist removes a big unknown.
FAQ pages built from real questions
Collect the questions your front desk and chat get every week. Answer each one in a few sentences. These pages also tend to show up in search, because they match the exact words people type.
Comparison content
"Implants vs bridges vs dentures: which is right for you?" Patients are comparing options, not just clinics. Help them compare fairly and you become the trusted advisor.
Keep them close while they decide
Comparing takes time, sometimes weeks, sometimes months for bigger treatments. During that time you want to stay in touch without being pushy:
- Follow-up messages. When someone inquires but doesn't book, a short, helpful sequence by WhatsApp, Messenger or email: answer their question, share a relevant patient story, offer a consultation time.
- Retargeting with useful content. Instead of showing the same "Book now" ad again and again, show people who visited your implant page a short video explaining the process, or a patient story.
- Email for people who opted in. A useful message every couple of weeks keeps you in mind without pressure.
Measure it differently
Middle-stage content won't always get the booking directly, so don't judge it only by last-click bookings. Look at whether people who watch the explainer video or read the cost page book at a higher rate later. Watch time on page, return visits and follow-up replies all tell you if the content is doing its job.
How we handle this stage
In our campaigns we treat the comparison stage as part of the system, not an afterthought. The AI chatbot answers detailed questions about cost, process and timing within a minute. Follow-ups keep the conversation going. Retargeting on Facebook and Instagram shows explainer and patient-story content to people who visited but didn't book. You can see how we approach Meta campaigns on our Facebook ads for dentists page.
Be the clinic that explains
Patients who are comparing aren't looking for the loudest clinic. They're looking for the one that makes them feel informed and safe. Give them that, and they'll come to you when they're ready.
